John Stanley Mower, 43, of Edgemont, SD was pronounced dead March 12, 2007 at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs, SD.
John was born June 18, 1963 to James and Dolores (Sakowski) Mower in Hot Springs, SD. He worked in a number of occupations during his younger years including farming and cattle ranching. He worked construction in Arizona, California and South Dakota as well as the construction of bridges on Highway 18 and 71, and other bridges in the area. John graduated from high school and later received training as a heavy equipment operator and was known as an expert mechanic. He also worked for the railroad in Wyoming, California and Arizona over the years.
John was well known for his hard working habits. He loved to fish, cut wood and ride dirt bikes. Most of all John loved being home with his family and although he was not married, he shared his life with his girlfriend, Deborah for over 23 years. John will be missed by all of his family and friends who shared his life.
Survivors include his long time companion Deborah Harrington of Edgemont, SD; his parents; James F. and Dolores Mower of Hot Springs, SD; one son, Arron Scott Mower; two stepdaughters, Teresa Marie Goodroad of Rapid City, SD; September Dawn Peterson of Rapid City, SD, one brother; Joseph F. Mower of San Diego, CA; one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Friday, March 16, 2007 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00am, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD, with Father Patrick Shea officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
