John A. Wilson, 69 of Hot Springs, SD, passed away June 11, 2018, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.

John was born January 2, 1949, in Mitchell, SD, to Thomas O. and Fern I. (Allen) Wilson. John graduated from Mitchell High School in 1967 and then attended Dakota Wesleyan University 1967-1970 and 1974, graduating in 1974. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from January 29, 1971, until his honorable discharge on December 4, 1973. Most of his service took place in Germany. John worked as a Veterans Benefits Counselor for the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Los Angeles, CA, and Hot Springs, SD from January 10, 1975, until his retirement on March 2, 2004. John was a member of the American Legion and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas who passed in March of 1990; Fern who passed in Nov. of 1985; and his sister, Patricia W. Wilson who passed on Dec. 15, 2014.

Per John's wishes, no services will be held.  John will be buried in his family plot in Plankinton, SD.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
