Obituary

Joseph Norman Gerard 'Joe' Simmons, age 72, passed away April 24, 2016, at his home near Hot Springs, SD.

Joe retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service with a rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He had a generous soul and was always helping others as well as volunteering at St. Anthony's Catholic Church where he loved serving at the Mass or adoration or saying the Rosary. If you couldn't find Joe, you knew he would be found in his garden. His love for gardening and giving followed him everywhere he lived. To those who knew Joe, it wasn't surprising that on several occasions, he had planted a garden that was bigger than his house.

Joe is survived by his children, Jason (Ronda) Simmons; Shannon Simmons ; Jaimie (Don) Nottingham; Heather (Cody) Thibert; Teresa Dinnen; Shawn Gorman; Jeanne Buria; Christopher Gorman; mother, Elizabeth Simmons; sisters; Clare (Larry) Westfall; Jeanette (Michael) Hassett; Maryann (Bill) Bachmann; 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Wallie Simmons; father, Vincent Simmons and son, Aaron Simmons.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fr. Kerry Prendiville as Celebrant. Committal services will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
