Joseph D. Price of Custer, SD, passed away peacefully at Custer Regional Senior Care, Friday December 7, 2012. Joseph and my mom and family were devote Catholics, with family members as clergy.
Joe was born August 21, 1921, in O'Neil, NE, to Earnest and Mary Elizabeth (Nauchman )Price, His seven brothers, Mom and Dad were farmers., Joe served in the CC'S during the Great Depression, and also served his country in World War II, in the Army, in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Saint John's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, Custer Senior Center, the Lions Club, the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters, Local Union in Omaha, NE. and an appearance in the Gold Discovery Days Parade.
My mother, Evelyn and Joe owned and operated Custer Floral and Gifts, from 1977 through 1992, then retired to his " Ponderosa" there in Custer, My folks were married at Holy Rosary Mission, Pine Ridge, SD, July 2, 1955, Lived in Omaha, NE, Evergreen, CO, Walden, CO, and then to Custer, SD IN 1969.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, eight brothers, Steve, Pete, BLAINE, Frances, Delmar, Basil and Stanley, and Pete's twin brother, his mother and father, one step-son, Lester, one daughter, Loretta Ann, one son, Little Joe.
He is survived by sons, Leo B. Price, Gillette, WY, Michael A. Price (Erica) Hill City, SD,, step-sons Melvin (Lorraine) Swallow, Cuny Table, SD and Lonnie Swallow, Red Shirt Table, SD, many grand and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Wake will be held at Saint John's Catholic Church in Custer, Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday December 14, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Tim Hoag officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD.
I am sure all he would request is to say a little prayer for peace.
