Joshua C. Pearson was born on May 17, 1979 in Spearfish, South Dakota. He left us suddenly on August 22, 2023 in Edgemont, South Dakota. He is survived by his parents, John and Kris Pearson of Spearfish, and sister Asa Pearson (Derrick Phillips) of St. Paul, MN.

Born in Spearfish, Josh started his automotive career around age 9 working at Valley Auto. After graduating from Spearfish High School, he went to WyoTech in Laramie, WY to start his technical training. While still in school, he quickly found both a job and community in Laramie.

Josh was seemingly a jack-of-all-trades, even if being a mechanic paid most of the bills. If there was something he wanted to learn, he would find a book to teach himself. The book store in Laramie should have charged him rent for the number of hours he spent there looking through the shelves.

In no particular order Josh was a hiker, a potter, a custom car builder, a mechanic, a cook, an artist, a gardener and preserver, a knife maker, an unofficial bouncer, a kid and dog spoiler, (Tucker and Dozer could not have asked for a better master), a woodworker, a builder, and a lumberjack, just to name a few.

He was the kindest soul and best friend most have ever known.  He was willing to drop almost anything to lend a helping hand and supplies to not just family and close friends, but to anyone in his community that needed help.

After years in Laramie, and much searching (including at least 3 states) he found his house in Edgemont. There he also found a home and a community that embraced him. He really loved the area of the southern hills and loved Edgemont in particular.

A memorial gathering will be held 11:00 a.m., at the Edgemont city park, near the covered bridge on September 9, 2023.  Please bring a dish to share and stories as well.
