Karen Rae Knapp, 74, formerly of Custer, SD, passed away October 15, 2021, in Rapid City, SD.

Karen was born October 26, 1946, to William and Erma (Mitchell) Gould in Custer, SD.  They had two children, Karen and Sandra.   Karen grew up in Custer and graduated from Custer High School in 1965.  She married Ken Barfoot June 18, 1965 and they lived in Hill City, SD.     They welcomed daughter, Lana Rae, in 1967.   The family moved to Custer in 1969, where she worked at the family owned jewelry store.  In 1985, Karen moved to Rapid City and worked for BH Ammunition.

Karen loved to go dancing and listen to Country Western music.  She grew spectacular flower gardens and a large vegetable garden.  She married Jim Knapp in 1996 and they enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Karen loved spending time with her grandson, Evan, and taking him for rides on the four wheeler.  She loved her pets, Blackie and Cookie.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Lana (Chad Ehret) Griencewic of Rapid City, SD; sister, Sandra (Bud) Curl and grandson, Evan.

Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.

Committal Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Custer Cemetery in Custer, SD.
