Karen Kay Richardson died of natural causes on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at her home in Custer at the age of 75.
Karen was born in Miller, South Dakota on August 2, 1943, to Kent and Annella Wright. She graduated from Custer High School in 1961. She then met her husband, Arthur, and they were married in 1962. They had two sons, Troy and Timm. After moving around a bit, they settled back in Custer in 1976 where they managed A&K Market from 1976-1989. After selling the business, Karen worked several places including Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer Regional Senior Care, and National Museum of Woodcarving.
Survivors include her son, Troy Richardson and his wife, Christi, of Black Hawk; son, Timm Richardson and his wife, Lisa, of Custer; one sister,Terry Keelin, of San Juan Capisterana, California; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, Kayla and Rylan.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, at Custer Community Church at 2pm.
