Karl Jackl, age 81 of Custer, SD, passed away May 17, 2011, at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.
Karl was born December 23, 1929, in Munich, Germany to Josef and Theresa (Zitzelsberger) Jackl.
After finishing High School in Germany, Karl went to work as an Electrician's Apprentice.
He went on to excel in his trade and became a Master Electrician.
In 1952, Karl married Ursula Seifert, the love of his live for the next 59 years. In September of 1960, Karl, Ursula and their son Joe, immigrated to America. Karl continued to work as an electrician in the Chicago area until 1972 when they moved to Custer to build and operate the Bavarian Inn Motel and Restaurant. More than anything, Karl loved his three grandchildren, Jamie, Karlie and Max. Four years ago this month, he was introduced to his first great grandchild, Hazel and two years ago, Noella. They gave him such joy. He just loved to tease and spoil them.
With the exception of his family, his greatest joys came from being with the "boys" at Rocky Knolls Golf course and being on a Canadian lake with his "fishing buddies". More than the activity itself, he just loved the fellowship, comradery and treasured the lifelong friendships that resulted.
Survivors include his wife, Ursula Jackl of Custer; son, Joe (Ginny) Jackl of Custer; brother, Rudi Jackl of Germany; three grandchildren, Jamie (Pierre) Sarnow of Littleton, CO; Karlie (Kevin) Mark of Ft. Collins, CO; Max (Elyse) Jackl of Ft. Collins, CO; and two great grandchildren, Hazel Sarnow and Noella Sarnow.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer with Father Peter Kovarik officiating.
