Obituary
Kathryn Frances (Klindworth) Scott, 84, formerly of Hot Springs and Oral, SD, died February 25, 2013, at the Clarkson Mt. View Health Care Facility in Rapid City, SD, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Faith, Family & Friends—those were the guiding principles of Kathryn Scott's life.
Kathryn was born July 19, 1928, in Milburn, NE, to John and Orvia Marie (Kehler) Klindworth. She graduated from the Merna, NE, High School and taught grade school in the Anselmo, NE, area.
Kathryn married Stewart Warren Scott on February 8, 1947, in Broken Bow, NE. After the wedding they resided on the old Stanford place southeast of Anselmo, NE. In 1955 the family moved to an irrigated farm east of Oral, SD. Kathryn and Stewart retired in 1979 and moved to Hot Springs, where they enjoyed their retirement years.
Kathryn's life was occupied by family, being a homemaker, and at work-teaching school, the Hot Springs VA Center, and the First National Bank of the Black Hills. She was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hot Springs (formerly of Smithwick).
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stewart; and one brother, Tom.
She is survived by a two sisters, Ruby Christen of Anselmo, NE; Iris Prell of Newcastle, WY; son, Edward (Linda) Scott of Moorcroft, WY; daughter, Linda (Larry) Marchant of Rapid City and son, Randy (Linda) of Hot Springs. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Sherri (Jesse) Pangus, Scott Marchant, Bradley (Karyn) Scott, Justin (Kylea) Scott, Matthew (TerryAnn) Scott, and Jacob (Devin) Scott as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordyn Marchant, Andrew Marchant, Jyllian Scott, Kellan Scott, Cohl Scott, Grayson Scott and Kathryn Ann Scott.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February, 28, 2013, at McColley's Chapel in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church on Fall River Road, Hot Springs with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker and Brad Scott officiating.
Committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
In lieu of flowers memorials will distributed to various ministries close to Kathryn's heart and may be sent to the attention of Randy Scott 12762 Clubview Dr., Hot Springs, SD 57747.
