Obituary
Kathryn Mary Spencer, age 100, of Edgemont, SD, passed away August 29, 2012, at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
Kathryn was born March 11, 1912, in Edgemont. She attended the Dewey and Burdock school and graduated from Edgemont High School. She attended college in Spearfish for one year and received a Teacher's Certificate. She taught schools at Elk Mountain and Bressnee.
Kathryn married Miles Spencer in Custer, SD. They had one son, Donald. They bought a ranch north of Edgemont where Kathryn called home for 65 years. She belonged to the Sagebrush Pals Extension Club for over 50 years.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Donald (Pat) Spencer of Edgemont, granddaughter, Diane Spencer; great-grandson, Miles VanUden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Grace Richardson; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the United Church in Edgemont with Dr. J. Edwin Coates officiating. Interment will follow at the Edgemont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kathryn's name have been established to benefit either the Sagebrush Pals or the Edgemont Ambulance Service.
