Kathryne B. 'Kate' McClung, age 90, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away April 21, 2012, at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

Kate was born September 21, 1921, in Fall River County, SD, to George J. and Marie Frieda (Kienitz) Renz. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1940. After high school she worked in her sister's three café's in Hot Springs, the Home Café, the Cozy Café and the Club. She also worked in a canning factory canning corn in Wisconsin for the servicemen. On December 18, 1944, she married Wayne Kazmer. They owned and operated a bar and the Angostura Café. Wayne died in March 1964. She married Harry McClung on February 6, 1965. Kate enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, doing word search puzzles and she loved her flower garden.

She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the Methodist Church for several years and also helped with the county elections for several years.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church near Smithwick with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery near Oral, SD.

Survivors include her husband, Harry of Hot Springs; son, Dennis (Linda) Kazmer of Oral; sisters, Arlene Krein of Hot Springs; Joyce Scherbarth of Hot Springs; and two grandchildren, Beth Lyon and Allen Kazmer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie (Kienitz) Renz; brothers, Harold; Carl; Lester, William; sisters, Ruth; Marie; Bertha; Laura; Etta; half-brother, Clarence; half-sisters, Florence; and Esther.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Kate's name be sent to either the Prairie View United Church or the Fairview Cemetery.
