Keith Ray Blume passed away in Custer, SD at the age of 77.  Keith was born in Parkston, SD on April 9, 1945, to Fredrick and Susan Blume.  He joined four brothers.

He graduated high school from Armour, SD in 1964 and then went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army from February 1966 until his honorable discharge in February 1970.  Keith loved telling stories about his time spent in Germany.

He then moved to Custer in the mid 70's and set up home.  He spent many years as a handy man, putting up drywall, painting, and any jobs that needed done.  He started work for the U.S. Postal Service as a maintenance employee in 1977, then moved to be the Custer City Carrier until his retirement in 2005.

Keith was most happy while he was working and staying busy.  He wore many hats.  He was an active member of the Kenneth Kuper Post 3442 and spent many hours donating his time and labor.

Hunting season was a busy time around the Blume house, he processed meat for friends and family and kept the crockpot and coolers full for whoever stopped by.  Just know that when you showed up you were getting put to work.

He had a passion for gardening, canning, cooking & baking.  His homemade bread and rolls were some of his specialties along with his pickles, rhubarb treats and his mother's stuffing recipe.

Keith is preceded in death by his mother & father, his wife Jocelyn and his brothers Alden, Ivan & Stanley.

He is survived by his son Steven (Amanda) and 2 grandchildren, Connor & Reghan Blume of Custer, SD; his brother Duane (Carolle) Blume of Gillette WY; his nephew Jeff (Pam) Storm of Custer, SD; two sister-in-laws, Angie & Ramona and four brother in-laws Joel, Brian, Doug & Dan, along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends.

Burial Service will take place at the Clearfield Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., October 21, 2022.

Military Honors will be presented at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Custer Veterans Memorial Park and a Celebration of Keith's Life will follow at the V.F.W. in Custer, SD.
