October 20, 1957 – July 31, 2021
Keith L Schroeder, 63, was born October 20, 1957, in Fargo, ND to Robert and Marian Schroeder, the 4th of five children. He took his final ride on July 31, 2021.
Keith grew up in Hunter, ND and joined the Army in 1975 where he was an MP. After leaving the service, he moved to Hillsboro, OR where he worked part time as a Reserve Officer for the Hillsboro Police Department. He returned to ND and joined the Wahpeton Police Department. It was there he met his future wife, Jo Prante. Keith, Jo and her 3 children became a family on August 15, 1986. They moved to Grand Forks, ND where Keith was employed by the Grand Forks Police Department. He worked there for 23 years achieving the rank of Sargent. They welcomed their 4th child, completing their family, in 1989. Keith became Chief of Police in Devils Lake, ND in 2009. In 2017, Keith retired from law enforcement and took a position at the VA Black Hills Healthcare System in the HR department.
Keith's passions were his family, the Blue Knights, his motorcycle, and fishing. In that order. When he loved something, he gave it his entire attention and devotion. He loved the Black Hills and left this world doing the thing he loved best in the place he loved best.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his brother, Joe.
He is survived by, his wife, his children, Jennifer (Joshua) Robistow, Matthew (Donna) Mulock, KariMulock, and Zachary (Janie) Schroeder, grandchildren, Onyx Falcon (Brandon), Charles Mulock, MathiasSchroeder and step-grandchildren Lily (Drew) and Nicholas Robistow, his mother, Marian, his siblings,Robert, Kathryn and Merlin, Sister-in-law Eileen (Brian) Marohl, Brothers-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Prante,Tim (Grace) Prante, Bill (Vicki) Prante and Bob Prante and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the VA Medical Center Domiciliary Auditorium, Hot Springs, South Dakota.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., August 20, 2021, at Hope Evangelical Convenient Church in Grand Fork, NE.
