Obituary

Keith Harold Warner, age 77, passed away in his home in Broomfield, Colorado, on June 23, 2019, after battling cancer.

Keith was born to John Wesley and Ruth Harriet (Hutchinson) Warner on February 9, 1942, in Troy, New York.  He married Janet Fleming on November 24, 1962, later having two children, Michael and Karen.  They made their home in many places during his work with the National Park Service.

After High School he worked for Fisher Auto Parts in Hot Springs, South Dakota.  In 1962, he took a job working on a trail crew in Yellowstone National Park, which began his career with the Park Service where he worked until he retired from the Park Service in Denver, Colorado, after a 40-year career.  He didn't do well with retirement, missing his opportunities to chat with people, so he worked many part-time jobs for many years after retirement.

A true "People Person," Keith never knew a stranger.  He entertained everyone he met with his many stories, jokes and laughter.  He was also a wonderful family man, spending most of his time with his family, spoiling them with lunch dates, jokes and lively conversation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, spending a lot of his summers camping with his wife and every fall hunting waterfowl with his son and one of his granddaughters.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ruth (Hutchinson) Warner; sister Marsha (Warner) Ezell; and daughter Karen (Warner) Hulan.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Warner; brother John Wesley Warner III.; son, Michael Warner (Laurie); granddaughters, Sara Calkins (Arthur); Jessica Ferguson (Chris); Michelle Warner (Michael Wagner); Alicia Krause (Steve); Kristin Spencer (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Kaden Calkins; Konnor Calkins and Sonja Spencer; and many nieces and nephews.

Committal services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019., at Fairview Cemetery in Oral, SD with Reverend Dr. Martha Beck officiating.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
