Kimberly Kay 'Kim' Degnan, age 40, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away March 25, 2011, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD, surrounded by her family after a valiant fight with breast cancer.
Kim was born in Hoven, SD, on July 23, 1970. She grew up in Lebanon, SD & Edgemont SD. After graduating from Edgemont, SD, High School, she attended NAU and Chadron State College.
Kim married Jes Degnan on August 19, 1995, in Hot Springs, SD. They lived in Rapid City, SD; Buffalo Gap, SD; and finally settling in Hot Springs. To this union two beautiful daughters, Cassidy & Calyn, were born.
Kim was a caring individual and everyone she met became a friend. She was creative and spent hours working on her crafts to decorate her home inside and out. She loved the craft show circuit as she would socialize with everyone. But most important to Kim was spending time with her daughter, husband and family, whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include her husband, Jes, and daughter, Calyn, of Hot Springs; father and mother, Larry and Florence Jost of Hot Springs; sister, Kelly (Randy) Wolfe of Summerset, SD; two brothers, Kevin (Tammy) Jost of Edmond, OK; Kerry (Annie) Jost of Hot Springs; and her grandmother Sarah Gordon of Hot Springs; mother-in-law, Donna Degnan of Buffalo Gap, SD; brother-in-law, Cory (Cynthia) Degnan of Ulysses, KS; nephew, Zach Jost; nieces, Delaney Jost, Gina Jost, Lacey Jost, Abby Degnan and Jenna Degnan; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Kim is preceded in death by one daughter, Cassidy, in 2001; her maternal grandfather, Leo Gordon, and paternal grandparents, A. Ben & Oralle Jost.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the United Methodist Churches in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson and Pastor Earl Stucke officiating. Interment will follow at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery near Buffalo Gap, SD.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Jost, Kerry Jost, Randy Wolfe, Cory Degnan, Wes Grimes and Scott Cuny.
