Obituary

Larry Randall Fairbank, 62, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away November 4, 2009, at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.

Larry was born June 23, 1947, in Ukiah, CA, to Benjamin Randolf and Idella Gertrude (Kauffman) Fairbank. He graduated from Sheridan High School, Sheridan, WY in May 1965 and Santa Rosa Junior College, Santa Rosa, CA in January 1968.

Larry had varied careers in carpentry and the building trades, drawing, drafting and cartography. He worked for Western Electric, The Bureaus of Mines and Reclamation, and retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver, CO. He owned his own drafting company and became skilled in CAD and Digital Mapping.

He married Bonnie Lackey on August 12, 1983 and they resided in Denver, CO, until moving to rural Hot Springs in 2001. Larry loved designing and building furniture, cabinets and remodeling. He enjoyed electronics, building computers, audio systems and tube amplifiers. He also loved gardening, reading, the Black Hills region, and more cats than you can shake a stick at.

Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Hot Springs; mother, Idella Fairbank of Hot Springs; and brother, James Leroy Fairbank of Silverdale, WA.

He is preceded in death by his father, Randy of Hot Springs and one brother, Bill Fairbank of CA.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
