Larry Gail Lancaster, age 76, of Edgemont, SD, died suddenly on February 14, 2014, surrounded by friends at the Edgemont Senior Citizen's Center.
Larry was born December 4, 1938, in Ottawa County, KS, to John Craig and Ella Mae (Parsons) Lancaster. He attended Minneapolis High School and enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduating. Larry had a knack for making friends and did not know a stranger. He was known on a local Rapid City radio station as Mad Yodeler. His girls recall him singing songs and making up lyrics as he went along. Larry worked several jobs but loved railroading and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Lawton of Manhattan, KS; Lashelle (Norm, Jr.) Francis of Manhattan, KS; Julie (Andy) Kennicutt of Rochester, MN; two granddaughers; four grandsons; and one great granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lance Craig Lancaster, and his parents.
