Lawrence Irving Moen, 92, of Hot Springs, SD passed away at his home on Monday, July 9, 2007.
Lawrence was born January 5, 1915 in Portland, ND to Gilbert and Ida Moen, one of eight children. In November 1938 he married June Kaldor. In 1940 they moved to the Pleasant Lake, ND area and eventually bought a farm there. Lawrence spent 29 years working as a farmer and carpenter. In 1979 he and June retired and spent the next 28 years traveling between their new home in Hot Springs and southwestern Arizona. These years brought lasting memories of places they had seen and life-long friendships that had been made. Music was also a big part of his life and even though he had no formal training, he and June loved to play and entertain others. He carried his mandolin were ever he went.
Lawrence is survived by his best friend and wife of 68 years, June of Hot Springs; son, Lyle (Pat) Moen of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Pam Luchau of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Stewart (Teresa) Moen of Maryville, TN and Brenda (Terry) Moen of Interior, SD.
Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2007 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating.
