Leona Marie Pinnt, age 97, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.
Leona was born April 30, 1912, in Greeley County, NE to John and Inez (Harsin) Krogh and was raised on their ranch. She married John W. Pinnt December 6, 1927 at Lake Andes, SD. To this union five children were born, Alice; Marian, Dorothy, Duane, and Robert. They ranched in Nebraska until 1951 when they moved to a ranch in South Dakota.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Andrew) Goeden of Rapid City, SD; sons, Duane (Elaine) Pinnt of Hot Springs, SD; Robert (Jacquelyn) Pinnt of Chadron, NE; one brother, Alvin Krogh of Fairbault, MN; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Pinnt; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and John Grainger and Marian and Melvin Dewey; two grandsons, Russell Johnson and Owen Gene Pinnt; one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church near Maverick Junction, just east of Hot Springs, with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating.
Interment will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Leona's name to benefit St. John's Lutheran Church.
