Leona Agnes Suko, age 92, of Custer, SD, passed away April 23, 2016, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer.

Leona was born July 1, 1923, in New Leipzig, Grant County, ND, to Caleb and Katherine (Ruana) Ivarie. She went to school in New Leipzig and graduated from High School in 1942. Leona married William Suko in 1944, and they had five daughters, Dotti Weber; Carol Goddard; Shirley Morgan; Mary Smith and Beverly Hauptmann. The family moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1959. Leona was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. She was the last survivor of the Ivarie family.

Leona is survived by her five daughters, Dotti (Jack) Weber of Greeley, CO; Shirley Morgan of Bryan, TX; Carol (Bill) Goddard of Big Bear Lake, CA; Mary (Jimmie) Smith of Carrollton, TX; Bev Hauptmann of Upper Lake, CA; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; three sisters; one grandson, Erich and her husband, William, who passed away in 1987.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer with Rev. Robert Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Leona's name to benefit Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
