Leonard James Barr, 89, of Hill City, SD, passed away June 26, 2018, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.

Leonard was born November 23, 1928 in Hot Springs, to Leroy and Helen (Sanfner) Barr.   Leonard proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1947.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Linda Barr; Mary Gilmore; Bonnie (Les) Streets; Sherry (Tim) Breitkreutz; Pat Edwards; Robert (Darlene) Barr; Dorothy Barr; Jack (Sandy) Barr; along with numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Leonard was preceded in death by his sons, Edward and James.

A Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hill City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 2 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hill City, with Father Mark Horn as Celebrant.

Committal services will be held 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
