Leslie W. McClure, age 86, of Milliken, CO and formerly of Hot Springs, SD, passed away June 8, 2008 at Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit, Greeley CO.
Leslie was born April 26, 1922 in Minnekahata, SD to Charles R. and Willa (Gilerist) McClure. He was reared and educated in Hot Springs, SD. He graduated from Hot Springs High School. He entered the US Navy serving, during WW II, with the Sea Bees from 1941 to 1946 and he was a prisoner of war. Leslie married Dorothy Ervin on June 9, 1946. She died August 23, 2005. He worked as a carpenter, for over forty years, and as an antiques collector. He also loved to carve figurines and western statues. He has lived in Colorado since 1969.
Leslie was a member of Mid-West Tool Collectors, EAIA, and Rocky Mountain Tool Collectors.
Leslie is survived by one son, Robert K. McClure of Milliken, CO; one sister, Eva Romey of WA; three brothers, Shirley A. (Enid) McClure of Hot Springs, SD; Francis W. (Joyce) McClure of Detroit, MI; Charles J. (Joann) McClure of Grand Junction, CO.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy McClure; sons, Ronald Kent and Carl Warren; two brothers, Ted and Donald and one sister, Elma Strathbein
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating.
