Obituary
Lillian Lucille Muehl, age 93, of Custer, SD, died September 14, 2006 at Custer Regional Senior Care in Custer, SD.
From the time Lillian was 13, she hired out as a live-in housekeeper/sitter for several years over her teen years. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1931. On October 17, 1936 she married Lawrence "Lefty" Muehl and together they raised six children. Lillian began her career at the James Valley Nursing Home in 1960, until her retirement. At this time her "gypsy blood" kicked in and she became an avid traveler.
Lillian spent her spare time volunteering for activities associated with St. Ann's Alter Society, Frankfort Happy Hour Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of St. John's and TOPS. She loved to bake, work crossword puzzles, sewing, embroidery and was the family historian.
Lillian joined the Catholic Church before her marriage and was a shining example of what it means to be a Christian to the day she died.
Survivors include her two sons, Larry (Arlette) Muehl of Sioux Falls, SD; Jack (Marlene) Muehl of Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Mary Jean (Ray) Eide of Custer, SD, three daughters-in-law, Loretta Muehl of Custer, SD; Gloria Muehl of Sun Lakes, AZ; Arlene Muehl of Jacksonville, FL; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Wake services will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 17, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 18, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Kovarik as Celebrant.
Mass of Christian Burial will also be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Frankfort, SD with Fr. William Osborn as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Frankfort.
The family recommends that memorials in Lillian's name be made to the Women of St. Ann's Alter Society in Frankfort.
