Obituary

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, heaven gained a little cowboy. True to his roots, and with a firm handshake and a smile, Logan brightened the path of everyone he met.

Logan Chase Van Eaton graced our presence on May 12, 2004 in Rapid City, SD. He was born to Jessica (Porter) Van Eaton and Wyatt Van Eaton.

Logie, as he was known by his closest family and friends, always had a smile on his face and a rope in his hand. He loved life to the fullest. At the age of 2, he was horseback and swinging a rope. This would soon become his life-long passion. Logie always looked forward to brandings, his favorite time of year.
He enjoyed horses, people, cattle and music. He always enjoyed a good bronc ride, unless he was involved!

Logan participated in numerous activities. He enjoyed football, basketball, golfing in the summer, and fishing. He was in band and choir. Logan was in the 6th grade and by the second week of school he was ready for summer.

One of his greatest joys in life, even though he wouldn't admit it, was posing for pictures taken by Avery, his sister and best friend. These moments documented some of the best times of his short life. He also enjoyed riding and fencing with his dad and sister, along with all aspects of ranching life. At the first sign of getting to chase one, Logie was the first to get his rope down.

Logan is survived by his parents, Jessica and Wyatt; sister, Avery; maternal grandparents, Judy Porter and Dick Porter; paternal grandparents, Jack & Dee Van Eaton, great grandmothers, Mildred Oleson and Sally Guthmiller; aunts and uncles, Laura & Johnny Gabrielson; Terri & Jon Lautt; Paula & Tim Schaack; Michelle & Wade Urban; Sarah & Ryan Brodrick; cousins, Cortney, Cooper, Jake, Whitney, Josh, Tel, Treg, Tres, Dylan, Kyran, Tavian, Trey, Isaac, Mia, and Freyja.

He left us too soon and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The ones that loved him most will miss his amazing hugs and beautiful smile.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Edgemont Armory in Edgemont, SD.

A memorial has been established in Logan's name for a scholarship fund for his sister and best friend.
