Lewis "Louie" James Compton, 66, of Custer, SD, passed away June 11, 2024, at his home in Custer.   Louie was born April 21, 1958, in Douglas, WY to Lewis and Charlotte Compton.

Louie loved his family and his friends.  He loved being in the woods, either playing or working.   His profession was forest restoration, managing trees and the forest.

Louie is survived by his wife, Char of Custer; son, Lewis "Jake" Compton of Summerset, SD; brother, Jon (Tammy) Compton of Helena, MT: sisters, Becky (Vernon) Huber of Huron and Kathy Chamberlain of Hill City, SD.

Louis is predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Alice Madonna Compton.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.

Committal services will follow at Hill City Cemetery in Hill City, SD.
