Louis William Pearson passed away October 17, 2010, at the age of 75 in Longmont, CO. He was born in Hot Springs, SD, on May 28, 1935. His parents were William and Anna Pearson. Louis graduated from Hot Springs High School as Valedictorian in 1953 and from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1959.
Louis Worked as an architect in Arizona, Colorado, and South Dakota. He was proud to have done work on Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City. He has sculptures in Youngstown, Ohio, San Francisco, and the University of New Mexico.
With his special interest in religious art and cathedrals, Louis authored Pearson's Comparative Dimensions of the great Cathedrals of the World, which can be found on his website LouisPearson.net. Louis is also a member of the American Society Civil Engineers.
Louis was an avid hiker and mountain climber and was a member of the Colorado Mountain club and the American Alpine Club. He felt the view from Harney Peak was the most beautiful of views that he experienced.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church near Hot Springs.
