Lucy Justine Rossknecht Wilson, age 95, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
Lucy married George Wilson July 24, 1936, at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs then moved to Spokane, WA. In 1948 they moved back to Hot Springs and Lucy was a cook at the 7-11 Ranch for seven years. They then bought a farm out at Oral on the Angostura Irrigation District. She cooked at the Lutheran Hospital, Oral School and was the original owner of Lucy's Du Drop Inn for many years. Lucy loved going to the cabin, cooking, sewing, gardening and her grand children.
Lucy is survived by her three sons, Kenneth (Judith) Wilson of Rhinelander, WI; Robert (Carol) Wilson of Grande, AZ; Dennis (Mary) Wilson of Hot Springs, SD; three daughters, Barbara (Jon) Hinek of Bishop, CA; Alyce Bennett and friend, Gary, of Yuma, AZ; Mary Beth (Burgess) Ghost of Hot Springs; fourteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, George; mother; father; as well as eleven brothers and sisters.
Wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Kovarik officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery near Oral, SD.
A Memorial in Lucy's name has been established to benefit the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
