Lyle Richard Ness, 85, of Custer, SD, passed away on July 13, 2024, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Lyle was born on October 4, 1938, to Omar and Irene (Stengel) Ness. He enjoyed being self-employed at Custer Tractor and Ness Stump Grinder and Storage.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Jeff, Jim, and Robert; grandson, Josh; and his brothers, Gale and Donnie.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of Custer; children, Mike (Tawnie) Ness of Custer; Melissa (Steve) Linde of Custer; Julie Dobbe of TN; Jeaneen Hutson of NM; Jackie Green of SD; Daryl (Jo) Moeller of Rapid City, SD; Brian Moeller of Custer; Diane Kury of Custer; Tim (Patricia) Moeller of Kalispell, MT; sisters, Beverly Dyslin of Piedmont, SD; Janet Davis of Aberdeen, SD; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private family services were held.
