Lynette Mary (Reindl) Burke was born February 10, 1959 at St. John's Hospital in Rapid City and passed into the peaceful arms of our Lord on April 9, 2013 at Rapid City Regional Hospice House. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Lynette was born to LeRoy and Ellen Reindl, the ninth of eleven children. She was raised on the family ranch northwest of Custer and spent her childhood growing and playing with her siblings. Favorite pastimes were playing house in the chicken coop, baseball on the big lawn, swimming in the stock tanks and sledding down the big hill. Lynette learned her work ethic from her parents and could be counted on to finish any job she started and finish it well. She wasn't afraid of anything and spoke her mind when she felt something needed to be said.

Lynette was educated in the Custer School District and many life-long friends were made. After graduation from high school, Lynette continued to live in Custer and on December 1, 1979, she married the love of her life, Patrick Burke. Soon after, her son Justin was born and Lynette began her favorite "job", that of being mother. Michael was born four years later and Lynette was content as a mother and wife. Justin and Michael were the sun and moon of Lynette's life, but the twinkling stars in her sky were her three grandchildren, Gabriell, Izabell and Liam. The countless hours she spent with her grandchildren were like heaven on earth to her. Her joy knew no bounds having these three little people to love and cherish.

Lynette worked in the Custer School District for over 20 years, starting as a Title 1 Aide and progressing to the Network Technologist. She loved the children she worked with and kept in contact with many even after they graduated and moved from Custer. Her fellow employees were some of the most important people in her life. Lynette was involved in many community organizations, such as the Gold Discovery Days committee, Custer Alumni Association, the Democratic Party and St. John's Catholic Church. She loved to be of service to others.

Lynette will be remembered by her beautiful smile, her generous, giving nature, her adventurous spirit and her decorating sense. Hers was the only house in Custer decorated for every holiday imaginable. She loved to celebrate.

Waiting to meet her in Heaven were her husband Patrick, her parents LeRoy and Ellen, her sister-in-law Joyce and many other relatives and friends.

Left to grieve her passing and celebrate her life are her son Justin and his wife Vesalina, her son Michael and her three grandchildren Grabriell, Izabell and Liam. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Lorraine Beachler, her sisters Kathleen (Larry) Johnson, Wanda (Alan) Tounsley, Judy (Ron) Lacey, Marge (Dick) Wellman and Leanne Reindl; her brothers Darryl (Jan) Reindl, Lyle Reindl, Tim (Sherrie) Reindl, Kevin (Denice) Reindl and Mike (Debbie) Reindl; the Burke family, Mary (Todd) Maiden, Tom Burke, Mark Burke, and John Burke; many nieces and nephews and the most and best friends of anyone in the world.

Vigil will be held 6 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Custer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Custer with Father Tim Hoag and Deacon Par Coy officiating.

Interment will follow in the Custer Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Custer Alumni Scholarship fund and Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
