Obituary

Mable Irene Einspahr, age 91, of Hot Springs, SD, died Dec. 1, 2012. Mable was born May 27, 1921, to Howard and Mary Ireland in Vian, NE. Mable was the 7th of 14 children. She graduated high school in Chester, NE in 1938. On May 27, 1940, Mable married Otto Einspahr in Valentine, NE. They farmed south of Mission, SD, until 1947 when they sold the farm and moved to Clay Center, NE, where they operated a theater for four years. Later they sold that business and operated a liquor store in Bertrand, NE. They sold the liquor store in 1957 and once again purchased a farm southeast of Mission, SD, where they resided until they retired. In 1982 they relocated to Oral, SD.

Mable enjoyed many hobbies: she bowled for over 53 years, golfed, hunted arrowheads, loved to ice skate, read and was an avid rock hound, making beautiful jewelry from rocks she and Otto found. She also enjoyed square dancing and sewed her own outfits. She made and decorated many birthday and wedding cakes and refinished old furniture.

Mable is survived by one brother, Shorty Ireland of Kadoka, SD and two sisters, Eulalia Mansfield of Martin, SD and Wilma DeBoer of Oral, SD; sisters-in-law, Jean Ireland of Hot Springs, SD and Esther Assman of Mission; many nieces and nephews including their "adopted" children: Jane (Glen) Witte of Lincoln, NE; Debra ((Gary) Coleman of Valentine, NE; Vicki (Ron) Witte of Whitney, NE; Pete (Kathy) Kindred of Smithwick, SD and Mike (Renee) Kindred of Oral, SD.

Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2012, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at Prairie View United Methodist Church on Smithwick Road near Smithwick, SD, with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Interment will be in Martin Community Cemetery in Martin, SD , at 3:00 pm.

A memorial has been established in Mable's name to benefit the Pine Hills Retirement Center or Castle Manor in Hot Springs.
