Mae Flowers Lancaster, age 85, of Custer, SD passed away July 1, 2008 at Custer Regional Senior Care in Custer.

Mae was born May 28, 1923 to Vay Isaac and Clara Etta (Flowers) Denton in Corson County, SD. She attended rural school in Corson County and finished through grade school in Hot Springs, SD. On October 26, 1942 Mae married Harvey Edward Lancaster in San Angelo, TX. Before her marriage she worked at Sister's Hospital in Hot Springs and later as a cook at most of the lodges in Custer State Park for twenty five years. She also raised a family in beautiful Custer State Park where she and Harvey lived until moving to Custer in 1976. Mae worked at the Custer Cleaners until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Open Bible Church in Custer and the Women's World Fellowship.

Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her life revolved around her family. She had a strong faith in the Lord, she was honest and straight forward, and she will be greatly missed by many.

Mae is survived by her husband, Harvey of Custer; two sons, Ronald Harvey (Carol) Lancaster of Morristown, AZ; Gary Gene (Josie) Lancaster of Lewistown, MT; one daughter, Janice (Harry)Kooyman of Custer, SD; brother, Ted Denton of Central City, SD; sister, Florence Huxford of Rapid City, SD; twelve grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 4, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Custer Community Church with Pastor Joel Ziolkowski and Reverend Ray Schatz officiating. Interment will follow at Custer Cemetery in Custer, SD.
