Marcella R. Sunding

1929 – 2023

Marcella Rose Sunding was born October 18, 1929, to Henrich 'Henry' and Rose (Eden) Klicker in Wolsey, SD, and called to her eternal home on July 5, 2023.

She was raised on a farm west of Wolsey and graduated from Wolsey High School.  After high school, she attended Huron College of Commerce and worked for the Nash-Finch Company.

She met Marvin Sunding and the two were married on December 17, 1949.  Marvin secured a job in Hot Springs, South Dakota and they moved west.  Together they opened Sun Valley Greenhouse and established a truck garden.  Later the property became a mobile home park, and they added a storage unit business.

To their union two daughters were born: Lynn (Eldon) Terrell of Bellevue, NE, and Sandy Standen of Batavia, OH.  Grandchildren: Julie (Eric) Williams of LaVista, NE, Wendy (Mike) Tridle of Lincoln, NE, Amie Standen of Ft. Thomas, KY, and Jared Standen of Batavia, OH.   Other survivors include great grandchildren:  Dylan, Carson, and Zac Tridle of Lincoln, NE, Logan, Roman, and Sarah Williams of LaVista, NE, Christian Blair of Ft Thomas, KY, Katie and Ellie Jacoby of Ft Thomas, KY; Sister Beverly Calvert of Lewisville, TX, brother Delbert (Judy) Klicker of Wolsey, SD, and special friend Victor Kienitz of Hot Springs, SD, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Edward Standen.

Marcella will be remembered for her hard work and love of family.  She will truly be missed by many.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at United Churches in Hot Springs, SD.  Committal services will follow at Edgemont Cemetery in Edgemont, SD.
