IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margery Gene
Baldwin
September 12, 1927 – November 12, 2024
Margery Gene (Brendmoen) Baldwin was born to Oscar and Mabel (Hanson) Brendmoen on Sept. 12, 1927, in Webster, S.D. She was raised on a farm during the "dirty '30s" and often rode a horse to school.
After graduating from high school in Pierpont, S.D., she married Leeland Baldwin in November 1946. Together they had five children. They moved to Custer, S.D., in 1953 where they raised their family and where she lived until her death. She and her husband were charter members of Custer Lutheran Fellowship East of Custer.
Marge worked for the U.S. Forest Service, Black Hills National Forest for 27 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Forest Supervisor, retiring in 1994. She thoroughly enjoyed working for the Forest Service and the highlight of her career was meeting President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara. After retirement she worked part-time for several years at Carson Drug.
She always welcomed friends and family into her home to sit and visit in her living room, or when the weather was nice, out on the front porch with her beautiful flowers. She was well known for her pies (apple, rhubarb, banana cream) and it was not unusual to hear someone exclaim that her pie was the best they had ever had.
Marge passed away Nov. 12, 2024, in Custer at the young age of 97 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; daughters, Corliss and Janeane; son, Chuck; two sisters; and one brother. She is post deceased by her son, John Baldwin.
Marge is survived by her daughter, Carmen Anthony; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; and last, but not least, her beloved dog, Lexi.
