Family is requiring all guests to wear masks. Thank you
Margrethe Mason, 58, passed away at her home, surrounded by family and friends, Monday, August 23, 2021.
Margrethe was born in Warner Robbins, GA, on June 4, 1963, to Ernest and Margrethe Lively. She was met by her 4 older siblings, Janice; Jim; Belinda and Tracy. Her brother, Terry, joined the family 7 years later. From the day she was born she was the sweet, caring, loving soul we were blessed to know and love.
The family moved often for Ernie's job in the U. S. Air Force, until his retirement, when Margrethe was 14 years old. At that time, they settled in Buffalo Gap, before moving to Hot Springs to be near family. It was in Hot Springs where she met the love of her life, Robert Mason, a good friend of her brother, Tracy. It is one of the few regrets of Rob's life with Margrethe, that he didn't see her as more than his friend's little sister right away, and begin working to win her heart then. Instead, they built a solid foundation of friendship, that would support their 36 year marriage through all the highs and lows.
Margrethe and Rob raised 4 children together, Belinda; Kirsten; Evan and Josie. Their love supported them through the loss of their baby Elizabeth. They were later blessed with 4 grandchildren, Caleb; Lillian; Hannah and Matthew. Margrethe was born to be a mom, she said on many occasions, "the only thing I ever wanted to do was be a mom." She lived out her life's ambition, not only with her own children, but also through the hundreds of children who were "her kids" that she helped raise in the daycare she operated out of her home for 33 years. The number of children's lives she helped to shape was countless and the impact she made in their lives was immeasurable. She was a constant loving and safe space for "her kids", a cheerleader and resource center for their parents, and a refuge for any and all of the community's children, whether or not they were "her kids."
The loss of Margrethe is a pain shared by many, tempered only by the unconditional love she gave. She will be missed.
Margrethe is survived by her husband, Robert of Hot Springs; son, Evan Mason of Hot Springs; daughters, Belinda Mason of Columbia, MO; Kirsten Mason of Duluth, MN; Josie Lively of Hot Springs; mother, Margrethe (Ronald) Sibal of Hot Springs; brothers, James (Shelley) Lively of Hot Springs; Tracy (Denise) Lively of Rapid City, SD; Terry Lively of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Belinda (Greg) Frohman of Hot Springs; Janice (Ross) Sirek of St Louis, MO; grandchildren, Caleb; Lillian; Hannah; Matthew, and innumerable "her kids."
