Obituary

Marilyn June Brockman, 74, of Custer, SD formerly of Truth or Consequences, NM, died Friday June 25, 2008 at Custer Regional Senior Care.

She was born in Brainerd, MN October 31, 1933 to Morris and Cleo Wareing. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, James H. Brockman on August 16, 1952. During the course of their marriage and James career they lived in MN, CA, PA, IA, NM, SD, CO and KS. After their daughter was born, Marilyn was a Girl Scout leader for over 8 years and also very active on the Girl Scout council.

She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Truth or Consequences, NM, American Legion Auxiliary in Elephant Butte, NM and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and motorcycle riding with her husband. Her greatest pleasure was dancing all the years of her life. She led line dancing during her winter stays in Truth or Consequences.

Survivors include her daughter, Carrie, and her husband Richard Alm of Custer; granddaughter, Jennifer Little of Box Elder, SD; grandson, Kristopher Zumbaum of Presho, SD; four great-granddaughters, Tylore; Mandy; Mickayla and Jakia. A brother, Malon Wareing of Hutchison, MN; three sisters-in law, Ardyce Johnson of Pillager, MN; Phyllis Brockman of Sartel, MN and Kathleen Brockman of Greensboro, NC and numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends in Truth or Consequences, NM.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, one sister, Pamela and one brother, George.

Services will be at 10am on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River, MN. Honorary Pallbearers are all her wonderful friends in Truth or Consequences, NM.

The family suggests memorials to the VFW Auxiliary programs in Custer.
