Marjorie D. Briggs, 88, of Hot Springs, SD left this life May 18, 2007 at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.
Marjorie was born on March 5, 1919 to Charlie and Wilma (Escott) Benson. She was the oldest of eight children and lived most of her life in Hot Springs. She married Gerald Briggs in Parks, NE on January 25, 1941 and has four children.
Marjorie was a Girl Scout leader and trainer for many years. She loved working with kids. She was a Rebecca, a member of Chat and Work Extension Club, a volunteer at the VA Medical Center and she belonged to the Southern Hills Artists. She loved to paint with oils and watercolors. Marjorie was also a member of Clown's of America and she attended the Christian Church most of her life.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Leslie Snow of Hot Springs; Velda (Tom) Phillips of Casper, WY; Carol (Oliver) Wilson of Hot Springs; Jerry (Tim) Briggs of Edgemont; two brothers, Clarence (Margo) Anderson of Hot Springs; Chester, (Sherry) Anderson of CA; four sisters, Marie Wendt of Custer, SD; Wanda (Chris) Wendt of Prescott, AZ; Esther (Harold) Waltman of Custer, SD; Eunice (Jerry) Holt of IA; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry in 1979, her parents, a baby son and one sister Wilma.
Marjorie was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She touched and enhanced our lives and will be deeply missed.
Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Hot Springs Christian Church with Pastor Bill Hallsted officiating.
