Marjorie Eva 'Peggy' Knisley, age 86, passed away July 12, 2014, at her home in Hot Springs, SD.
Peggy was born January 21, 1928, at CWM-Monmouthire, South Wales, United Kingdom, to Thomas Frank and Norrie Bruce (Tanner) Mitchard. She graduated at 16 from Duffryn School in CWM, South Wales, United Kingdom. After graduation Peggy went to work at an ammunition factory in Bath, England. She met her husband Bud who was in the Army Stationed in England. They were married October 2, 1945, in Bath-Somerset. Peggy arrived in America April of 1946 on a ship for English war brides. She worked at Norwest Bank for 20 years and the VA Center for 14 years. Peggy loved knitting, reading, and walking. Anyone who knew Peggy, knew one of her greatest joys was feeding people, whether it was cookies and coffee for drop in company or making "sandwiches for the road" if you were going to be traveling. She was dedicated to supporting many charities and helping people in need. Peggy loved spending time with her family, friends, and being involved in her church. She belonged to the Legion Axillary and VFW Auxiliary.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2014, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Clint Rittberger officiating.
Peggy is survived by her three daughters, Carol (Tim) Alford of Medford, OR: Candy Knisley of Hot Springs; Becky (Lonnie) Krause of Bison, SD; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Peggy's have been established to benefit the American Cancer Society or the Rapid City Regional Hospice.
