After interning at Bellevue Hospital in New York she completed residency requirements at the VA Hospital in Oteen, North Carolina, near Asheville. They owned and operated an antiques and collectibles business known as The Cache in Loveland, Colorado. After her husband's death, she sold the business and returned to her family's original home place in Hot Brook Canyon, near Hot Springs—a place she dearly loved. She built a new home there and enjoyed being again in the beautiful Black Hills where she was raised.
