Marvin Henry Lemmer, age 80, of Custer, SD passed away April 4, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Marvin was born on March 25, 1929 in North Platte, NE to Henry and Annabell (Booth) Lemmer at his grandparent's, Ernest and Ada Booth, home. He went to schools at North Platte, NE; Buffalo, NE; Lexington, NE, and Cozad, NE as well as Oconto, NE and Callaway, NE high schools. He also worked on two fox farms and two dairy farms.
Marvin enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1948 and then received a dependency discharge in April of 1950. In May of 1950 he was drafted back into the Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1953. Marvin spent both tours over in Germany.
On July 16, 1953 Marvin married Donetta Mae Schiomer to this union three children were born, Michael Warren, Julie LeAnn and Marva Nadine. Marvin was a professional cook for thirty-seven years and retired in 1997. He liked canning, hiking, wild berry picking and transplanting wild flowers.
He is survived by one son, Michael Warren Lemmer of TX; two daughters, Julie LeAnn Whitney of Hot Springs; Marva Lemmer of TX; one brother, Bernard Lemmer of Cherry Tree, PA; three sisters, Myrna Stithem of Lindale, TX; Marlene (Bob) Beeson of KS; Carolyn Waldren of KS; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 thru 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2009 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2009 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills. Interment will follow at the Pringle Cemetery near Pringle, SD.
