Mary-Ann Louise Hadlock, age 75, of Custer, SD, passed away April 5, 2016, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Mary was born June 19, 1940, in Cottonwood, SD, to Ernest and Marjorie (Weber) Neumann. She was one of six children. After the death of her father, at the age of 13, Mary went to work to help support her siblings and get them through school. She worked in the area around Wall, Wasta and cottonwood where she met her husband, Ray, in 1954. They were married July 19, 1958, in Custer. Mary worked in the area babysitting, waiting tables, cooking and nearly anything to get them by. Mary and Ray were blessed with six children.
Mary enjoyed hunting for rocks, stumps, building wire trees and making pillows. She loved going dancing, gardening, drives through the forest and listening to Ray and her kids play music. Mary never met a stranger.
Mary is survived by her husband Ray of Custer; children, Raymon "Bill" Hadlock of Rapid City; Bob (Cheryl) Hadlock of Custer; Linda Hadlock of Hot Springs, SD; Mary "Deneice" (Jon) Knight of French Town, MT; Dusty (Jen) Hadlock of Custer; Tracy (Becky) Hadlock of Newcastle, WY; sister, Bonnie McFarland of California; brothers, Dale Neumann of California, George Neumann of California; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Tanner; brother, Jim Neumann, and granddaughter, Cassie Hadlock.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer with Dr. J. Edwin Coates officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Mary's name to benefit the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
