Obituary

Mary Lorraine Burke-Beachler peacefully passed away June 21 st , 2022.  She led a beautiful and blessed life for 102 years and was thankful for all the family and friends that were able to visit and say goodbye prior to her passing.

Lorraine was born in Oak Park, IL and attended school at Marshall High School in Chicago, IL.   After high school she worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone company in Washington DC as an operator during WWII.  After the war she moved back to Chicago, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Burke.  She married Thomas and they had eight children Kathleen, Thomas, and infant daughter, Patrick, Mark, John, Joyce, and Mary.  Thomas passed away after 18 years of marriage.  The memories of the 18 years together were one of the highlights of Lorraine's life and something she cherished until the day she passed.

Lorraine moved her family to Custer, SD in 1972.  She loved the Black Hills and knew it was a great place to raise the family.  In 1982 she married William Beachler and they were married until his death in 1991.  Lorraine loved to travel and was an active parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church in Custer.  When asked how she managed to live so long?   She gave all credit to God and the love of family and friends.  Lorraine loved to share the stories of her life with anyone that had a minute to listen.  Lorraine was a blessing to all that knew and loved her, and she will be greatly missed.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents William and Adeline, sister Dorothy McGuire (John), brother William Sheahan (Dawn), her sons Patrick Burke (Lynette Burke), son Mark Burke, daughter Joyce Satterfield, infant daughter, and grandson Justin Burke.

Lorraine is survived by her children Kathleen Asad (Doug), Tom Burke, John Burke, Mary Maiden (Todd), Grandchildren DJ (Elizabeth), Michael, Vesi, Daniel (Brie), David, Jason (Shawna), Kalie (Kolin), and MaKinze.  Great grandchildren Issabella, Gabriella, Liam, Emmy, Charlie, Brode and Kyran also many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In her 102 years Lorraine saw and experienced many things but most precious to her was her faith and love of family and friends.
