Obituary

Mary Jane Dugan, age 92, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on November 7, 2016, at Clarkson Health Care Center in Rapid City, SD.

Mary Jane Dugan was born on April 23, 1924, in Midland, SD, to Jack and Margaret (McCullough) Huston, one of nine children all of whom preceded her in death except Sharon (John) Malsom of Fort Bragg, CA.

She married Donald "Babe"Dugan in 1943, and had two children, Diane and Jack. Mary Jane graduated from high school and obtained a college degree in teaching. She began her teaching career in country schools and ended her career in Rapid City in 1989. Mary Jane was the first Head Start teacher in the Rapid City school system and taught elementary and special education. Love and support for her family as well as teaching were her passions in life. Mary Jane loved cooking and exploring recipes. Her family will never forget her famous homemade buns and cinnamon rolls. Mary Jane's great sense of humor could lighten anybody's day. She will be greatly missed. She passed away November 7, 2016, with her son at her side.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Babe"; two grandsons, Craig Dennis; Jesse Dugan; and son-in-law PeeWee Dennis.

Survivors include her children, Diane Dennis, Custer; and Jack Dugan, Rapid City; her grandchildren, Jani/Bob Zweber, Wayne Dennis, Jackson Dugan, Cindy Dennis; her great-grandchildren Amie Dennison, Dugan Dennis, Amanda Dennis, Kelsi Dennis, Keisha Dennis, Chance Dugan, Jolie Dugan, and Cole Dugan; and her great-great grandchildren Caylee Dennis, Mikayla Dennis, Dilann Dennis, Keelan Dennis, Anthony Edwards Jr., Elijah Edwards, Rylee Durst, Da'Veon Davis, Makai Dennison, and Michael Dennison Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews who came to visit her every year at the Dugan/Huston annual family reunion. She loved them dearly.

A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer with Rev. Jodi Olson officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.
