Mary Elizabeth Andersen Krebs, age 79, of Edgemont, SD, passed away on May 7, 2015, at her home in Edgemont.
Mary was born on February 8, 1936, in Edgemont, SD, to Henry John and Mary Belle (Dennis) Andersen.
Mary attended grade school for 8 years at the Burdock rural school, followed by her high school years and graduation from Edgemont High School. Following college at Spearfish for a short term, she taught in rural schools in South Dakota and Nebraska. Mary also worked at the Department of Revenue in Helena, MT, for a number of years and the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, SD. Mary moved back to Hot Springs, SD, in October of 2005, where she enjoyed the life of a small town again, since Mary was a small town person at heart. Several years later she moved to the Hillcrest Apartment complex in Edgemont for her remaining years.
Mary married Jim Cornette in 1960. That marriage ended in divorce; and Mary later married Richard Pfander, that marriage also ending in divorce. In 1978 Mary married Carl Krebs, who died the following year.
Mary enjoyed a number of years in 4-H club during her younger years, having projects of gardening, poultry, and handicrafts. Over the years Mary enjoyed crocheting, reading, working with her various flowers and other plants, and working puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed going for walks, especially if there was someone to visit with. For a number of years Mary did a lot of canning of fruit and vegetables, and made all of her own jams and jellies. She also did all of her own baking (from scratch) bread, cakes, cookies, sweetbreads, etc.
Mary was very active and enjoyed attending church services, various Bible study groups and other Christian Activities.
She is survived by her sisters, Hilda Sorensen of Green River, WY; and Agnes Case of Sturgis, SD.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the United Church in Edgemont with Dr. J. Edwin Coates officiating. Committal services will follow at the Edgemont Cemetery near Edgemont.
