Mary Ann
Limbo
August 2, 1948 – April 12, 2020
Mary Ann Limbo, 71, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away April 12, 2020, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Mary Ann was born August 2, 1948 and joined sister Donna as beloved daughters of Bernice and James Verdugt. She attended elementary school in Hendricks, MN and then high school with graduation from Sturgis schools. She graduated from South Dakota State University and joined the Army. She married Ron Limbo in 1971. They later divorced.
She was most proud of her Army service. Her military career included a diabetic internship at Brooke Army Medical Center and active duty at Ft. Sam Houston and Ft. Jackson, SC. Her jobs were always in food service from fry cook and dishwasher to dietitian both in the Army and many hospitals and nursing homes in the Black Hills area.
Her interests were wide and varied. She loved the Black Hills, fishing and even gold panning in its lakes and streams. She was a gardener and wine maker. Sometimes garden produce even turned into wine. She met Doug Strackbein and they shared common interests in vintage cars, car shows and garage sales.
She is survived by her soul mate, Doug Strackbein; her sister, Donna and Paul Johnson; by her nephew Alan and Noel Johnson; by her niece Lynette and David Rein; and by her great niece, Avery Rein.
Sadly services will not be held due to the restrictions placed by the Corona Virus.
Interment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
