Mary Ann (Bund) Mooney, 94, of Custer, SD, passed away July 7, 2017, at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.
Mary Ann was born in Alton, IL, March 21,1923, to William F. and Anna E. (Dawson) Bund. Mary Ann was a graduate of Alton High School and later attended secretarial school. She married Edward F. Mooney January 9, 1943, and they celebrated 73 years of marriage before Edward's passing in 2015. After their marriage, they relocated to Mt. Vernon, IL, where they lived for 68 years and raised their children, Carol and Michael. In 2014, they moved to Custer to live with their son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandra.
During her years in Mt. Vernon, Mary Ann worked at the First National Bank and was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mary Ann was also a member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary for 36 years, volunteering both at the hospital and at the Bargain Box.
Mary Ann is predeceased by her husband Edward F. Mooney; parents, William and Anna Bund; brother, William Bund; niece, Kathryn Bund Johnson; and all sisters-in-law and brother-in-law of the Bund and Mooney families.
Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her friends and loving family; daughter, Carol Mooney (Charles) Halverson of Libertyville, IL; son, Michael (Sandra) Mooney of Custer; 4 grandchildren, Monica Mooney (Les) Denny; Leslie Mooney Deglman; Teresa Halverson (David) White and Peter (Hillary) Halverson; 8 great-grandchildren, Anthony; Austin; Iris Mooney-Denny; Rebecka Deglman (Alex) Brazeal; Karen and Rachel White; Elsa and Stig Halverson; and great-great-grandson, Michael John Brazeal.
Funeral services will take place in Mt. Vernon, IL, at a later date.
