Mavis Marie Erwin, age 82, passed away September 11, 2011, at her home in Hot Springs, SD.
Mavis was born March 2, 1929, in Flandreau, SD, to Ivan and Meleta (Gimmer) Stembaugh. She worked for thirty-two years as an administrative assistant at the Fall River County Extension Office where she particularly enjoyed working with the 4-H group.
Mavis is survived by her husband, Max; son, Greg (Suzanne) Erwin of Woonsocket, SD; brother, Virgil Stembaugh of Aurora, SD; sister Evelyn (Wes) McCaskell of Rapid City, SD; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011, at The United Churches in Hot Springs with Pastor Dale Pracht officiating.
Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established in Mavis' name to benefit the Fall River 4-H Leaders Association, c/o Fall River Extension Office, 1031 North River Street, Hot Springs, SD 57747.
