Michael A. Davidson
November 17, 1947 – October 8, 2026
Michael A. Davidson, age 78, of Custer, South Dakota, passed away while fishing in Custer State Park on October 8, 2026.
Michael was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, on November 17, 1947, to the late Frank and Edna Davidson. He spent his childhood growing up in Keystone, South Dakota, and went on to graduate from high school in Rapid City.
Following his graduation, Michael proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country with honor and distinction, earning several military commendations, including the Purple Heart for his bravery, dedication, and sacrifice.
After his military service, Michael spent many years working in the timber industry as a skilled logger and truck driver, working across both California and his beloved Black Hills.
Outside of work, Michael found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether he was fishing, hunting, working on a woodworking project, or simply spending time with family and close friends. Though he was a quiet man, he left no doubt in the minds and hearts of those around him just how deeply he loved and cared for them. His steady presence, warmth, and devotion to his loved ones will be greatly missed.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Davidson; his sister, Cathy Seaver; his brother, Paul Davidson; and several other cherished family members.
He is survived by his son, Chris Davidson; his daughter, Pamela Howe; several grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD. Burial with military honors will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD, at 2:30 pm.
