Micheal James Carder, age 61, of Custer, SD, passed away on August 2, 2017, near Custer.
Micheal James Carder was born in Hinesville, GA to Bill and Marilyn(Strawhacker) Carder, on January 30, 1956.
He spent his early years in Burlington, IA. He met & married Beckie after a whirlwind courtship while stationed at Ft Bliss, TX before doing a tour in Korea. They returned to Texas and moved around there and New Mexico before settling in Custer, SD in the late 80's. He worked at the Custer Saw Mill, worked construction and was an electrician. He played many sports and was on several leagues in Albuquerque, NM. He also played on the Custer SawMill softball team before receiving the injury that ended his sports career. Micheal loved being outside in the sun, spending time with his family, especially grandkids, who all called him Boppy. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR through the backs of his eyelids on Sundays. He began his federal employment starting at Jewel Cave National Monument in 1993, transferring to Wind Cave National Park in 2004. Micheal passed away on August 2, 2017 doing what he liked to do by being outside and working with a group of A.C.E. kids.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Ryker.
He leaves his wife, Beckie, of 42 years, their children- Sunny Fejfar (Justin), Cody, and Lindsay; and grandchildren- Jade, Cordelia, Brock, Chloe, Bryce, and Kyla. His parents, Bill Carder and Marilyn Mintun (Jim), a brother Doug (Pam), and two sisters Barb Willson and Deb Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts, Uncles and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 6 2017, at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.
Committal services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Custer Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Clayton officiating.
