Mildred M. 'Milly' Sadowsky, age 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 15, 2011, at her home in Hot Springs, SD.
Milly was born April 13, 1924, in Dickinson, ND, to Joseph J. and Mary (Barta) Polensky. She grew up on the family farm north of Dickinson. Milly received her grade school education in rural schools, high school education in Dickinson and received a teaching certificate at Dickinson State College. She was a rural school teacher until her husband entered military service.
On July 3, 1945, Milly married Laudie J. Sadowsky. After Laudie completed his military duty, they moved to the farm/ranch that they purchased in 1947 and lived there until Laudie's passing in 1994. She moved to Rapid City, SD, in 1994. In 2006 she moved to Pine Hills Retirement Center in Hot Springs, where she resided until her death.
Milly enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidery. Her work graces the homes of many family members. She showed her love for family and friends by providing countless home cooked meals. Her Czech specialties; skinny noodles, kolaches and poppy seed dumplings were family favorites. She and her husband were very proud of their Czechoslovakian heritage and music.
Milly also loved to play cards and games. At the retirement facility, she enjoyed putting together many, many jigsaw puzzles with other residents-especially Doris Fellows. Milly and Laudie loved traveling and made several road trips across the U.S. and Canada, and participated in tours of Europe. She particularly loved cruises and went on several to the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe with her family. She enjoyed gardening, and in her later years enjoyed simply watching "Mother Nature". Milly was also an avid MN Twins fan.
