Miriam Esther (Gutzwiller) Anderson. 87, passed away October 10, 2023, at Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, SD. She was born in Chicago, IL on February 29, 1936. Miriam attended Concordia Lutheran College, University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado. This led to Miriam's lifelong career of teaching elementary and adult education. She married Rodney E. Anderson in Littleton, CO on June 15, 1968. Miriam was a member of Saint Martini Lutheran Church in Chicago. Besides living in Chicago, she lived in Texas, Colorado, Maryland and South Dakota. She enjoyed cooking, skiing, hiking, gardening and camping. Miriam had two children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Miriam is survived by her husband, Rodney; daughter, Denise (Sean) Currey; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, her son, her grandchild and her brother and sister.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, SD. Committal services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
